On January 24, 2025, I found myself walking through the winter streets of Žilina. I was there on business during my time working with Apple, heading toward the city center as the sun began to dip below the horizon. The light was hitting that perfect, golden winter crispness.
Passing a derelict building on the outskirts, I spotted a group of skaters. Their energy was infectious, and their skill was undeniable against the backdrop of the decaying architecture. I had my trusted Sony A9 II paired with the Sony Zeiss 55mm f/1.8 with me – a combination I rarely travel without.
I approached them and asked if I could capture their session. They were more than happy to oblige, even pausing for a few portraits. It was one of those rare, spontaneous moments where professional gear meets raw street culture, leaving both the photographer and the subjects with a memory worth keeping.
